David Milton Todd, Sr.
After a period of illness, David Todd passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022. A native Charlottean, David was born in Presbyterian Hospital and was a 1968 graduate of Myers Park High School where he ran track and cross country. He also attended Furman University.
In 1978 David took over his father’s swimming pool construction business, and over the course of 40 years he built hundreds of residential and community swimming pools in the Carolinas.
For many years David enjoyed showing classic cars. His most long-standing collector car was a 1960 red and white Corvette convertible named “Ecstasy 60”, with which he won numerous awards, including the prestigious national designation of Bloomington Gold.
Before moving his church membership in his final years, David was a long-time member of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served for a number of years as Church Secretary.
David is survived by: his wife, Marcia Martin Todd, also an MPHS graduate; his son David Jr. and his daughter Lisa; his stepson Davis Cole; his brother Mike Todd (also an MPHS graduate) and sister-in-law Julia.
Final arrangements are being handled by Tribute & Tallent Funerals and Cremations in Charlotte and will include a private family service. Memorials may be sent to the Myers Park High School Foundation, https://www.mphsfoundation.org/donate/
